Who is eligible to participate in Spring tenting?
- Active, eligible Duke Graduate or Professional Student
- Ticket holders and non-ticket holders
How do I participate in Spring tenting?
- Tenting registration is open from February 10th to February 23rd at 11:59pm
- Tent groups can have up to 6 members, including a tent captain. Ticket holders and non-ticket holders can camp together, but since there are separate lines for ticket holders and non-ticket holders you will not be standing together for the game
- When choosing your tent group, keep in mind each member’s availability so that your group is eligible for a maximum number of checks (unless an eligible exception is permitted!)
Do I have to do Spring tenting if I already have season tickets?
- Tenting is used to get the most dedicated fans in the front row of the game and is not a requirement for entry. Season ticket holders are guaranteed entry into the Duke vs UNC game as long as they are in the wristbanding line AT LEAST 60 MINUTES PRIOR TO TIP OFF in accordance with the game day policies that will be distributed by the Head Ushers. Once tenting has ended, all students will be placed in line on a first come, first serve basis
What happens if I have class or work during Tenting?
- Graduate students who have class, clinical, or other academic responsibilities that prevent them from being present at portions of spring tenting can submit an exemption request
- Personal obligations outside of academic commitments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
- Approved exemptions will apply to cover any missed checks during spring tenting
- This exemption form will go live alongside registration and will close February 27th at 11:59 pm to allow sufficient processing time
- Unexpected exemption requests that arise after February 27th can be sent to bball.cmte@gmail.com with appropriate supporting documentation and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis as time permits

How will the tent order be determined?
- Spring Tenting is a team event. Beginning at noon on March 5th and continuing through clean-up the morning of March 7th there will be periodic tent checks. The cumulative number of checks made by your tent group over the course of Spring tenting will then be divided by the number of individuals in your tent group. This average will determine the final order of both the ticket-holder line and the walk-up line
- More checks made by the highest percentage of members of a tent improves their group’s position in line. For example, a 6-person tent that has 3 members (50%) make a check earns the same points as a 2-person tent that has 1 member (50%) make a check. A 4-person tent that has 1 member (<50%) make a check earns fewer points than a 2-person tent that has 1 member (50%) make a check. Tents will be ordered based on most checks per capita, and ties will be broken using randomization
